The Global-PPS tool is continuously improved and expanded. Our newest addition is the interactive reporting dashboard, now available on the online Global-PPS data entry environment. This new feature is meant to replace the longitudinal feedback reports in the pdf-format, and will enable hospitals to customise their analyses.

What does it entail?

You will be able to selectively visualise Global-PPS results by year of survey, type of ward, ward activity or antimicrobial group. This allows you to have a more detailed insight into the specific areas that are of interest to your hospital’s Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) programmes. Similar to the pdf-reports, the reporting dashboard will also provide the benchmarking data for your country and/or region in real-time.

Currently, three feedback sections are already available:

• Participation: provides an overview of the number of countries and hospitals that participated in Global-PPS in a certain data collection period.
• Antimicrobial use (AMU) prevalence: reports the evolution of antimicrobial or antibiotic use prevalence over time for different ward types and activities.
• Proportional use: visualises the evolution over time of the relative use of antimicrobial & antibiotic classes for different ward types.

In the coming months, additional sections will gradually be made available, this includes antibiotic use by indication, quality indicators, AWaRe antibiotic use, healthcare-associated infections prevalence, duration of surgical prophylaxis by surgery type, etc. At the moment, this feature is only available for the inpatient Global-PPS results. However, over time, we foresee to also include the outpatient PPS results.

What is the difference with the current feedback report?

This feedback module is has an interactive component: you pick and choose what analyses you would like to see and what graphs you would like to download. The interactive module is currently less extensive than the automatic feedback reports, despite being very detailed already. Both feedback tools are ready available and easily usable for the revision of antimicrobial prescribing patterns in your hospital and for the development of targets and stewardship interventions.  

How to use it?

You can access the interactive reporting dashboard by logging in to the Global-PPS web application. Next, you can navigate to the ‘Surveys’ tab and click ‘Interactive feedback’. It will only be accessible for users linked to a hospital that has collected Global-PPS data.

You will also be able to export your generated output as an image, which can be easily incorporated into reports and PowerPoint presentations. In addition, we will continue to support the one-point feedback reports in pdf, as a complementary resource for easy and rapid dissemination of Global-PPS results within the hospital.
